Home Up Seaplanes Rotorcraft Gliders Balloons Instructor

Continuing the Photo Tour of my Life in Flight.

Upon obtaining my Commercial Lighter Than Air - Balloon license in 1995, I also became a balloon instructor.  However I have since only given a few instructional flights in balloons.

In 1999 I obtained my Advanced Ground Instructor license which allows me to give ground instruction for all categories and classes.
In 1999 I also obtained my Certified Flight Instructor's license for Gliders.  Since that time I have given glider flight instruction to students starting as young as 12 years old, with several soloing a glider on their 14th birthday, and getting their Private Pilot license on their 16th birthday.

In 2001 I was named CFI of the year for the FAA Scottsdale (Arizona) FSDO District, and for the Western-Pacific Region of the FAA.

In 2002 I was named a Master Certified Flight Instructor by the National Association of Flight Instructors.

There are approximately 81,000 CFIs in the United States.  Fewer than three hundred of them have achieved this distinction thus far.  Only 15 Arizona aviation educators have earned this prestigious "Master" title.  Earning this designation is tantamount to having the words summa cum laude emblazoned on an instructor's certificate.
